Vestax Power Supplies
Listed here are some of the main power supplies you'll find for Vestax gear. The list is not exhaustive as there are additional later PSUs but this should give you a good idea about what is required when choosing a replacement PSU.
For beginners there are some important things to consider.
Type, is it an AC or DC output? A symbol with a sine wave is AC, two parallel lines (one dotted) is DC.
Voltage, it has to be just right for the mixer. If it needs 12v then 18v is too much and will cause the PSU circuitry to overheat, too little and it won't be able to power up.
Amperage, this is the amount of current the PSU can provide, it must be at least or above the circuits requirements. If the PSU can't provide enough amps it won't work properly, you can use a higher rated amp supply as the mixer will only take what it needs.Polarity, if the PSU is a DC supply then there is polarity to the connector. This is indicated by an icon which shows a positive and a minus icon with two circles surrounding a semi-circle. For Vestax mixers they use a negative polarity, meaning that the outer edge of the barrel has the positive voltage on it. This is not common, so by using a more common positive polarity connector will damage the mixer.
